Solid Surface

Solid surface countertops offer seamless acrylic faces with seams that are only visible from the underside. With solid surfacing, sink and counter materials can be integrated to create a fluid, graceful line. Solid surfaces come in a rainbow of colors, patterns, and styles, including stone and glass look-alikes. They are stain and heat resistant, with more edging and border options than natural stone. Scratches are easily softened with a non-abrasive scrubbing pad.

  The new Corian Select Series features 20 popular Corian colors at lower prices.  Corian was created for a lifetime of easy care. Because the solid beauty of Corian goes all the way through, Corian surfaces are completely renewable. You can remove minor cuts and scratches. There are three types of countertop finishes: matte/satin, semi-gloss and high-gloss. Most countertops are finished with a matte/satin finish. All sinks have a matte/satin finish. Soapy water, ammonia based cleaners or commercially available solid surface cleaners will remove most dirt and residue from all types of finishes. With over 100 colors and varying hues some colors may appear to require more frequent cleaning to maintain a uniform finish. Darker colors tend to require more attention than lighter colors.

  These half-inch thick, 100% acrylic based surface products are solid, nonporous and do not require sealing. They’re naturally resistant to heat, mold, mildew and most stains, even tough stains are easily buffed away. They’re renewable and repairable -- scratches are easily repaired. Featuring inconspicuous, waterproof seams ideal for custom designs like drain boards or coordinating seamlessly with Wilsonart sinks and bowls, Wilsonart Solid Surface is approved by the FDA and NSF International for food contact and preparation areas.

  LG HI-MACS Acrylic Solid Surface is a solid homogeneous sheet or slab resistant to stains. This means the color and design are consistent throughout making it ideal for surfaces that are subject to moisture and heavy wear. This non-porous surface rejects the growth of bacteria making it the logical choice in areas of food preparation, even over granite. It has the elegance of stone with a thermoformable quality, giving you creative license to explore your ideas with confidence.

Stone Options

• Granite
  Granite is the most durable of the stone options, and is chip and scratch resistant. You can cut, roll dough, and place hot pots directly on granite. Because stone is porous, each stone requires special sealants. But granite absorbs the least and only requires resealing about once a year.
  
  

• Quartz
  Quartz surfacing provides a nearly indestructible material.  The two most popular brands are Silestone and Zodiaq by DuPont.  Providing the look of natural stone with a mettle that laughs in the face of coffee, lemon juice and high-maintenance care, its non-porous nature protects against more than just stains—it's also extremely hygienic, making it a food-safe choice.  It is scratch resistant, but a hot pad or trivet needs to be used when placing hot pans on it.

• Marble
  Because it’s smooth and cool to the touch, marble is the traditional favorite for rolling dough and making pastries. However, it lacks the durability of granite and requires sealants to be applied more frequently to prevent stains.
  

• Cultured Marble
  For a designer look in your bathroom, try using cultured marble. It's easy to work with because it's made of real marble dust mixed with plastic resins. It's lighter in weight than real marble and less expensive.

• Soapstone 
  Soapstone is the stone of choice for luxury kitchen and bathroom countertops. It is actually a talc quarried product such as granite or slate. Soapstone is from Vermont or Brazil and the cost is comparable to granite or slate. It is a metamorphic stone with a soft, warm feel. Soapstone is resistant to chemicals, acid, water, and heat. No foods will stain it. You may take hot pots off the stove and sit them right on the stone without burning it. Light sanding will remove most scratches. Soapstone has a blue, green, or gray cast when mined. If it is treated with mineral oil the color deepens to its more typical rich, veined, charcoal gray. 

Laminate is a popular countertop surface, and with good reason. It's affordable, easy to care for and available in a wide selection of colors and patterns. Laminate is a great option if you like to update your kitchen every few years.

Made of thin layers of plastic bonded to a core of particleboard, laminate countertops keep their beauty without a lot of work. They resist stains, abrasions and moisture. All they need is an occasional cleaning with mild soap and water - spills wipe up easily with a damp cloth.
